Edmond Jackson Robbins, age 80, of Northport, Alabama, passed away August 9, 2017, at Forest Manor Nursing Home. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 with Rev. Carl Wells officiating and Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ellen Robbins and William Malcolm Robbins; infant brother, Terry Lynn Robbins; and sister, Sylvia Ann Reed.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Betty Ruth Robbins; daughter, Kimberly D. Wyatt (Jeff); son, William M. Robbins (Nikki); four grandsons, Joshua Wyatt, Liam Robbins, Gabe Robbins and Colin Robbins; and niece, Risa Staggs.
Ed was born in Thaxton, Mississippi and grew up in the community of Ingomar. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University and his Master of Science degree from the University of Alabama. He taught mathematics at Tarrant High School and later taught at the University of Alabama and Judson College while studying in the doctoral program.
As his hobby of restoring antique cars became his livelihood, Ed restored Ford Thunderbirds for customers across the country. For many years he owned and operated Robbins Restorations and Thunderbirds U.S.A.
Ed will always be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
