Charles Ross Barefoot, Jr., age 72, of Shelbourne Rd., Perrysburg, OH passed away in his home on Sunday November 1, 1992. A lifelong Toledoan, he attended Miami University where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau. As a 1949 graduate of the University of Toledo College of Law, he was a charter member of the Toledo Chapter, Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity. In addition, he was active in the Lucas County and Toledo Bar Associations. During his eminent legal career, he specialized in franchise and real estate law, serving on the board of several local corporations. Mr. Barefoot also held positions of assistant Attorney General for the State of Ohio and on the Probate and Real Estate Committees of the local bar. In devoting himself to community service, Mr. Barefoot touched the lives of many people especially children. He was on the board of directors of Aid for Adoption of Special Kids as well as Hickory Farms' Boys' Farm and Girls' Farm. He also co-chaired the Seaway Chapter of the March of Dimes for many years. Additionally, he was a charter member of Sertoma, holding numerous local state and national offices. "Charlie" will be fondly remembered by his comrades in the Zenobia Shrine, the Royal Order of Jesters, the Masons and the Lucas County Republican Club. A member of the VFW Toledo Post, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII. He is survived by his devoted wife, Evelyn, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 30. He was cherished by his son, Jeffrey (Lynne); daughter, Shari O'Brien Zaborowski (Gary); grandchildren, David, Danny, Bethany, Bradley, and Benjamin; and a loving circle of in-laws and friends. Visitation and a Masonic Service were held at the Coyle Funeral Home. A Memorial Service was held at the Church of the Cross United Methodist. Interment was private.
