Mary Ann Merritt, age 82, of Lake Panasoffkee, FL, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017. She was born April 30, 1935 in Noma, Fl. to Joseph and Trudell (Skipper) Ward, Sr. and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Merritt enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also, she enjoyed cooking and visiting with friends and family. She is survived by her son: Jerl Merritt (Sarah) of Center Hill, FL; grandchildren: Toni Stephenson, Tina (Donald) Clarke, Bridget (Troy) Yoder, Jamie Green, Richard Merritt, Brandy (Mike) Brown and Brady Merritt; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters: Martha Sue Waller of Chipley, Ganell Searcy of Birmingham, Al. and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Merritt was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dwight Merritt; sons: Terry Merritt and John Merritt; parents: Joseph "Cephus" Ward, Sr. and Trudell Skipper Ward; sister: Cecelia Pearson; brothers: JC Ward, Jr. and Paul Ward.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to: Florida Baptist Children's Home, 1015 Sikes Blvd., Lakeland, FL 33815. A service was held July 28, 2017 with Pastor Tex Merritt officiating and interment followed at Center Hill Cemetery. Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, Florida.
