Mistletoe, KY – Alfred Baker, 83, passed away on July 2, 2008 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY after a short illness with cancer. He was a retired school bus driver with the Owsley County Board of Education. He was born on March 30, 1925 in Clay County, KY to the late Chester and Catherine Wilson Baker, and the widower of Pinnie Bishop Baker, who passed away on February 14, 2006. Mr. Baker is suvived by three sons, Jerry Baker of Mistletoe, KY, Douglas (& Janet) Baker of Beattyville, KY and Howard (& Mae) Baker of Mistletoe; six daughters, Judy Couch of Mistletoe, Geraldine (& John W.) Baker of Dayton, Ohio, Mildred (& Tim) Howard, also of Dayton, Ohio, Esther (& Frank) Hatcher of Pikeville, KY, Brenda (& Douglas) Slaughter of Hamilton, Ohio and Joyce (& David) Hayes of Betsy Lane, KY. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Allen of Mistletoe and Dorothy Cooper of Frankfort, KY; and a brother, John Baker of Walton, KY. Visitation from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., Saturday evening at the Searcy and Strong Funeral Home. Funeral services at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the funeral home with Rev. Terry Mathis officiating.
