Dwight Allen "Woody" Woodsmall, 80, of Mount Pleasant died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at his home.
Born July 3, 1928, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Wesley William and Elsie Brownell Woodsmall. On Nov. 14, 1948, he married Violet E. Dickey in Edina, Mo. She died May 14, 2004.

Mr. Woodsmall worked 40 years at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown. He attended Mount Pleasant schools. He served in the Army. He was a member of New London VFW Post 7641. He attended First Church of the Nazarene in Mount Pleasant. He enjoyed watching sports, racing and NASCAR.
Survivors include one son, Robert Woodsmall of St. Peters, Mo.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, his parents, three sisters and eight brothers.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral with military rites for Mr. Woodsmall will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Smith officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.

Memorials have been established for First Church of the Nazarene and Mount Pleasant Cal Ripken Little League.
