Carl Laverne Gastineau passed into the arms of the Lord on August 18, 2017. Carl of New Bloomfield, MO passed surrounded by his family. He fought hard to remain with us but God needed him more in Heaven.

Carl operated and owned a sawmill, Gastineau Lumber Co., from 1953 to 1988. His first sawmill was near Centerville, then he moved it to Pevely, then to Rhineland and eventually to New Bloomfield in 1965.

In 1971 he founded Gastineau Pallet Co. with his son, Randy Gastineau. In 1988 he entered into the business of breeding ostriches. In addition, he has farmed and raised cattle with his son since 1988. For many years he owned Timberline Stables in New Bloomfield.

When not working, Carl enjoyed raising and showing Quarter Horses. In 2017 Carl and Shirley were inducted into the Missouri Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame. Carl’s stallion, Ima Zippa Goodbar, is a nationally renowned Quarter Horse stallion with offspring from New York to California.

At night when he couldn’t work, Carl loved Cardinal baseball and MU Basketball and never missed a game on television.
