Margaret was the daughter of Joseph Davis “J. D.” Redd (1814 - 1881 ?) and his wife, Polly White. There is a Missouri marriage record in Pettis County for this 1833 marriage. Joseph D. Redd married Sarah Peak or Peake in 1845 in Benton County. (Missouri marriage record) The graves of Margaret’s parents and also her step-mother have not been found.

Margaret Redd is recorded as age 8, born in Missouri, in the 1850 Williams, Benton, Missouri census with J. D. Redd, 37, & Sarah, 30, both born in Kentucky. Iantha is recorded as age 14; Louisa, 10; William White Redd, 6; Mary F., 4; & Wiley H., an infant.

J. D. Redd resided in Gardner Township, Johnson County, Kansas Territory in 1860, without his wife, but the additions of [Sarah Almora,] age 9, & a 3-year-old daughter who is not recorded in the 1870 census.

Margaret Redd married George W. Green March 21, 1864 in Miami County. (Kansas, Vital Records abstracts) They are recorded together in the 1870 Sherman, Leavenworth, Kansas census with Bettie, 5; Hattie, 3; & Winter, an infant.

Maggie Green remarried to Charles Sheets May 4, 1873 in Johnson County. (Kansas, County Marriages Index) Charles & Maggie Sheets are recorded together in the 1875 Sherman, Leavenworth, Kansas state census with Pallace or Bettie, 10; Hattie, 7; Winter, 5; & George Green, 3.

This family resided in Liberty, Cowley, Kansas in 1880, but had returned to Sherman Township in Leavenworth County by the 1885 state census. Margaret is recorded in the 1895 state census with her husband, Charles; her daughter Nellie (nee Sheets) Warring; her son-in-law, Earl Warring; and her sons, Lloyd & C. Earnest Sheets.

Charles Sheets is recorded as a widower in the town of Linwood, Sherman Township, Leavenworth County, Kansas in the 1900 census. Lloyd & Ernest Sheets are also listed. Ancestry family information records Margaret’s death in 1900, but an exact date and her burial location are not recorded.

Margaret may also be buried in Mount Sidney Cemetery at Linwood with her husband Charles Sheets. Margaret's sister, Mary F. Orrick, is buried at Mount Sidney Cemetery. Her father, J. D. Redd was also in Sherman, Leavenworth, Kansas in 1870, but resided in Cowley County, Kansas by 1880. He may have died in 1881.
