Hickory, N.C. - Flossie Mae Wilfong Ramseur, 82, of Hickory Manor, died March 1, 2007, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley after a lingering illness.
Born July 25, 1924, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Colonel and Ella Robinson Wilfong.
A member of Bakers Mountain AME Zion Church, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Oscar Ramseur; eight brothers, Kenneth, J.L., Charlie, James Sr., Craig, Forest, Vernon and Aaron; and six sisters, Pearlie Saxton, Irene Wilfong, Callie W. Collins, Ann Morrison, Lottie Ramseur and Estelle Wilfong,
Survivors include two sisters, Ethel Wilfong of Virginia and Virginia Wilfong of Hickory; a brother, Harvey Wilfong of Hickory; a sister-in-law, Savannah Ramseur of Hickory; her niece and caregiver, Dorothy (Willie) Hopper of Hickory; and a number of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Dennis Alvin Memorial Chapel of Allen Mitchell Funeral Home. The Rev. Lester Mae Clark will officiate.
Burial will be in Bakers Mountain AME Zion Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Allen Mitchell Funeral Home in Hickory, and will be at the home of Willie and Dorothy Hopper, 651 Tenth Ave. Drive, SE, at other times. Allen Mitchell Funeral Home of Hickory is serving the family.
