Wilson L. Schoch, 69, died at his home just [east] of here Monday night at 10:30 p.m. He had been ill for several weeks and seriously so for the past two weeks, death being attributed to effects of an abscess on the spine.

Mr. Schoch was born October 20, 1869 in Wells County, Indiana. On March 19, 1896 he was united in marriage to Anna Steube of Poneto, Indiana, and they lived there until 1906 when they came to Manton and settled on a farm east of here. Mrs. Schoch died November 14, 1919.

On July 22, 1923, deceased was married to Mrs. Gertie Rice, who survives him. Except for a few years in Flint, they have resided in Manton locating two years ago at the present home. He has been a member of the Odd Fellows lodge ever since he was old enough to be eligible, having joined at Poneto. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Masons and of the Manton Grange.

Besides the widow, he leaves one daughter, Mrs. Henry Aten of Arlene; one step-son, Harold Fleck of Flint; four grandchildren, Gerald, Darwin, Audrey and Ray Aten; a step-granddaughter, Marilyn Fleck; one sister, Mrs. Abner Chalfant of Bluffton, Ind.; a half-sister, Mrs. Nellie Eash, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a half brother, Fred Schoch of Mishawaka, Ind.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. from the Muche Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Sydney Werkema will officiate, and the services will be in charge of the Mason and Odd Fellow lodges. Interment will be in the Manton cemetary.
