Johann Wilhelm Abraham was born on 16 Jun 1848 at Kornelino, Kreis Schubin, Posen, Preußen, Germany (modern day Kornelin, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Poland, it was part of Poznan at the time he was born due to the partitions of Poland). He was the son of Martin Abraham & Dorothea Luise Puhl. Wilhelm departed Germany from Hamburg aboard the S.S. Saga on 14 May 1856. He declared his intention to become a U.S. citizen on 24 Mar 1870 at Waushara County, Wisconsin. Wilhelm married Henriette Meier on 26 Dec 1872 at Bloomfield, Waushara County, Wisconsin. He died on 9 Sep 1929 at Waupaca County, Wisconsin.
