Lucy Ette Ayres, 91 of Madill, OK passed from this life on August 17, 2017. She was born on June 27, 1926 in Marshall County, OK to Price and Iola Turner Herndon.

She married James Ayres on November 25, 1970 in Tishomingo, OK. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2000 at their home in Madill.

Lucy Ette worked for Glen Oaks Mfg. Co. for 31 years. She was a supervisor at Marietta upon retiring. She enjoyed cooking, creating new recipes, sewing, reading and making decorations. She was accomplished at making ceramics.

But first and foremost in her life was the Church. After retiring, she spent much of her time with church work. She helped with funeral dinners and singing for funerals. She taught Bible Class for many years. She went with a group to Canada to help a new Congregation get started. She loved Bible Classes and had read the Bible through many times.

Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ferrell and Irwin, sister in laws Bootsie of Kingston and Betty Herndon of Universal City, TX and a sister Odelia of Midwest City.

Survivors include two cherished step children; Kay Porter of Tulsa and Jim Ayres and wife Gale of Oklahoma City, brother Leland Herndon of Odessa, TX, sister in law Glynda Herndon of Durant, and special niece Paula Ayres.

Service will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Church of Christ in Madill, OK. Richard Bonnet and Dalan Larason will be conducting the service with interment to follow at Woodberry Forest Cemetery.
