Taylor, Tex., Sept. 12. -- Sheriff John T. Olive died at 5:30 o'clock this morning. His wife and family having arrived from Georgetown yesterday evening, the funeral took place at 4 o'clock this afternoon. Elder J.B. Sweeney preached the funeral service at the new Christian church. The Taylor fire department, together with the Masons and Knights of Pythias, of which organizations he was a member, turned out in uniform and procession to the grave was the largest ever seen in Taylor. Bold, fearless and intrepid, he was admired and honored by the law abiding class and scorned by violators of the law, at whose hands he no doubt fell. All the stores and places of business in the city remained closed this afternoon during the progress of the funeral. Dallas Morning News. September 13, 1892.

This John T. Olive, the husband of Frances, is often confused with this John T. Olive, who was married to Mary.

Sacred to the Memory of
John T. Olive
Died
Sept. 12, 1892,
Aged
42 Yrs. 6 Mos. & 11 D's.

We must bow to thy will, oh Lord,
for thou knowist best; So sleep on
dear husband and take thy rest.

Peaceful be thy silent slumber,
Peaceful in thy grave so low:
Thou no more will join our number,
Thou no more our sorrows know,
Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When the day of life is fled:
And in Heaven in joy to greet thee,
There no farewell tears are shed.
