Megargel ~ Gene Kellar, age 80, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 in Graham, Texas. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Megargel Christian Fellowship with Dan Hooper officiating. Burial will follow at the Megargel Cemetery in Megargel. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Gene was born on September 8, 1936 in Elgin, Texas to J. D. and Della Fay (Barker) Kellar. He was a longtime resident of Megargel. He married Sherry Janell McWhorter on June 29, 1956 in Throckmorton, Texas. He was a truck driver and heavy machine operator. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Bobby Don Kellar; two brothers, Jimmy Doyle Kellar and Dennis Ray Kellar; two sisters, Marquetta Echols and Myrna Whitmire.
Survivors include his three sons: Randy Eugene Kellar and wife Irma of Graham, James Michael Kellar of Olney, and Jimmy Ray Kellar of Megargel; nine grandchildren: Miranda Kellar of Olney, Emily Kellar of Graham, Whitney Clayton of Olney, James Dillon Kellar of Olney, Lindsay Nicole Kellar of Olney, Amanda Soliz of Piqua, Kansas, Jimmy Ray Kellar, Jr. of Megargel, Hunter Lee Kellar of Joplin, Missouri, and Madison Cheyenne Kellar of Colony, Kansas; five great-grandchildren: McKenna, Kreed, Kross, McKinley and Adelynn; one sister, Retha Stewart of Megargel; two brothers: Steve Kellar and wife Gina of Megargel and Charles Kellar and wife Jeanie of Megargel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
