Joseph Rush Prescott was the son of Josiah Worthen Prescott and Dorothy Smith Leavitt. He was one of ten children. He married Anna Huntoon Clark, dau of Nathaniel Huntoon Clark and Ruth Philbrick. These families were all of early New England decent with rich history in the building of our country. Joseph and Anna were the parents of five children, Cora Belle, Minnie Blanche, Josephine Grant, Maude Clifton and Myrta Rose. He died in 1882 in Racine, Wisconsin.
