Robert J. Hein, 93, of Erie, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 27, 1924, in Erie, Pa., son of the late Edward and Mary (Lewandowski) Hein.

Bob served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He was employed at Hammermill Paper Company and Burhenn's Pharmacy.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve (Kuczaj) Hein; daughter, Rebecca Hein Gregorian; son, Randy Hein; sister, Marion Loyola Fetzner; and son-in-law, Shahik Gregorian.

He is survived by his sons, Robert A. Hein and his partner, Susanne Taylor of Erie; Ronald Hein and his wife, Frances of Dillsburg, Pa.; daughter, Roxane Kerr and her husband, Marty of Waterford, Pa.; grandchildren, Isaac Nolan, Michael Hein, Nicholas Hein, Kathryn Hein, Randy Bryant, and Christy Hagood; step-granddaughter, Nicole Kerr; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his best friend, James Wierbinski.

Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes and Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th St., on Tuesday, March 7th from 3:00 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Harry Johns officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the A.N.N.A. Shelter of Erie or LECOM Health VNA Hospice.

The family would like to thank Burhenn's Pharmacy for their kindness and friendship over the years and to LECOM Health VNA Hospice for going above and beyond in providing outstanding care.
