John W. Wade came to Montana in the fall of 1910 from Georgia on the advice of his doctor. John had been ill with typhoid fever. His father-in-law, Wilton A. Miller, was manager on the Haymaker Ranch at Two Dot, Montana. John moved his family there and eventually took up a homestead on Hopley Creek.
John managed the Cooper ranch from 1914 to 1915. The family moved to Cascade where John went to work selling land for the Chestnut Valley Realty Company. He also worked at the Corner Store, the Cascade Mercantile and the old Co-op Store. He also was a vendor at the State Liquor store until his retirement.
He was the oldest of 14 children (obit states 12) and went to work at an early age, receiving only a minimum of schooling. However, he was a great reader and loved to argue or debate any question of current events.
John had four children with his wife, Clyde Ruth Miller.
NOTE:
Funeral program indicates private interment in Hillside Cemetery, Cascade, Montana.
[This program may be for his son John William Wade.]
