James "Bart" Klipple Bartholme, 66, of Newton Twp., died unexpectedly Saturday.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Paul Raymond and Iva Klipple Bartholme. He graduated with the class of 1968 at Abington Heights High School, he was a member of Milwaukee United Methodist Church, now Countryside Community Church, and also a member of the Milwaukee church choir for many years.

Jim was in the Army Reserve for 26 years, where he was a sergeant first class and actively served during the Persian Gulf War in the 300th Field Hospital. Over the years, he was employed by several trucking companies, most recently Quality Carriers, and for several years an employee of Procter & Gamble.

Jim will always be remembered for his warm smile, kind heart, encouragement, selfless personality and, of course, his organizational skills. He was a simple man who put everyone's needs before his own, and was a faithful supporter of many charitable foundations.

His passions were driving trucks, airplanes, flying, motorcycles and his immaculate beloved 1970 John Deere mower. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family, especially his daughters, who in his eyes could never disappoint him. He always enjoyed hanging in the garage with the farm crew, family celebrations for holidays, birthdays and yearly vacations to the beach that even divorce couldn't shatter.

Surviving are three daughters, Laurie Black and her husband, Michael, Jefferson Twp.; April Krehel and her husband, Paul, Clarks Summit; and Amber Wells and her husband, Michael, Ransom Twp.; a brother, Neil Bartholme and his wife, Carol, Newton Twp.; grandchildren, Bailey Scholonas, Adriana, Aiden and Jacob Krehel, Kyla and Nathan Dixon, and Julia Black; his friend and former wife, Elaine; several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Demaris "Demy" Archibald; a brother-in-law, Warren Archibald; and two grandchildren, Katey and Jax Wells.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Countryside Community Church, 14001 Church Hill Road, Clarks Summit, by the Rev. Mark Terwilleger, pastor. Interment will follow in Milwaukee Cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
