David Hyler of Danville, and Sarasota, Fla., died August 13, 2017, at his residence. Born on December 25, 1932, in Danville, he was the son of Oscar Hyler and Elsie McCain Hyler. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Jane Haar Hyler and later married Marion Thomas Hyler, who survives. He was also predeceased by his brother, Garland Keen Hyler. He graduated from Schoolfield High School. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He attended Danville Community College, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and Averett University. He retired as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of American National Bank and Trust Company. Prior to his career of 30 years with the bank, he was Secretary and Treasurer of Piedmont Hardware Company and Office and Credit Manager of Belk-Leggett Company of Danville. David was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He was a member and a past director of the Danville Host Lions Club and was honored by the Lions, being named a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was a past director and secretary of the Danville, Golf Club. He was an organizer and past President of the Danville Clearing House Association. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
