"A sad accident occurred in Mooresville last Saturday evening. It seems that Mr. Ed. Hitt of Chillicothe, a man of about 26 years of age, was in the vicinity of Mooresville hunting during the day and in the evening, it is supposed, he tried to board a through freight and got under the wheels. The unfortunate man was found about 7 o'clock lying on the track, the train having passed over his body about the middle and life lasted but a few moments after being discovered. The deceased was the son of Mr. Jesse Hitt who, we are informed, established the BULLETIN in this city, but is better remembered as the editor of the Chillicothe Constitution."
