Geneve Dickey Shanaberger, age 95, of Lynchburg, widow of Robert Worth Shanaberger, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017. She was born on November 15, 1921, in Berlin, Pa., to the late Harry H. and Mary B. Dickey. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl E. Dickey; a daughter-in-law, June Towler Shanaberger; and a great-grandson, Grayson Brightwell. She is survived by two sons, Robert Shanaberger of Chatham and Larry Shanaberger and wife, Martha, of Deltaville; three daughters, Carol S. Blanks and husband, Michael, of Forest, Kathy S. Brightwell and husband, Robert, of Madison Heights, and Cheryl S. Hasson and husband, Robert, of Altavista; a brother, Ronald Dickey of Sun City, Ariz.; a sister, Lois D. Krause of Berlin, Pa.; as well as eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Geneve was a member of Park View United Methodist Church and was retired from K-Mart following twenty years of service. She loved to read and work on crossword puzzles. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2017, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2017. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 2215 Park Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
