William Burl Van Horn was born March 20, 1898, and died January 20, 1974, at the age of seventy·five years.

He was the son of the late J. Newton and Zurah Fitz Randolph Van Horn. Farewell services were held on Tuesday, January 22, 1974, at the Koontz Funeral Home, Hamblin, W. Va., with the Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial services were held on January 23, 1974, at the Seventh Day Baptist Church Cemetery, Lost Creek, W. Va., with the Rev. J. W. Burch officiating. Surviving are his widow, Flo Bailey Van Horn; two sons; Philip B. Van Horn and Dr. C. Newton Van Horn; a daughter, Hannah Petri; and six grandchildren. Mr. Van Horn was well known and respected as an outstanding educator in West Virginia. He was a member of the Lost Creek Seventh Day Baptist Church.
