Mr. Bergler was born March 7, 1907, in Detroit, Mich., and moved to Edmonton, Alberta, then to Portland about 1930. He was an independent timber worker and housing developer. Eventually, he worked for the Northern Pacific Terminal (later, Railroad) Co., retiring in 1968. He helped found German Church of God (now Irving Park Church of God) and was a member of the Lynchwood church. In 1939, he married Alma Haberstock; she died in 1998.
Survivors include his sons, Edmund G. Jr. and David L., both of Portland; daughter, Jeannette E. Davisson of Gresham; sister, Peggy Nelson of Aloha; brother, Albert Berger of Cascade, Mont.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Skyline Memorial Gardens. The family suggests remembrances to Lynchwood Church of God. Arrangements are by Skyline Funeral Home.
