James McElheney Buried Sunday
Hawkinsville - Services for James Doyle McElheney, 69, of Rt. 1, Hawkinsville, who died Saturday at a Hawkinsville hospital following a brief illness, were held Sunday in Perry First Baptist Church.
The Rev. Dan Hodges and the Rev. Harold Leytham officiated with burial in Perry Memorial Gardens.
Mr. McElheney was a retired sawmill employee and had lived in Hawkinsville most of his life. He was born in Jasper County and was a member of the Baptist Church and F&AM Masonic Lodge 35 in Perry.
Survivors include one brother, Troy of Brunswick and several nephews.
Pallbearers listed.
Watson-Hunt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
The Georgia Death Index listed him as being a resident of Houston Co., GA though he died in Pulaski. He probably lived in the area of South East Houston Co. where the mail was delivered via a Rural Route originating in Hawkinsville.
His father was J.D. McElheney per his WWI Draft registration.
