Archie N. Purkey, 89, went to be with the Lord August 3, 2017. He was of the Baptist faith. He worked in the Lakeway area furniture industry his entire life. He was a dedicated farmer, hunter and family man. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mable R. Purkey; parents, John and Myrtle Purkey; eight brothers, one sister; and great-grandson, Joshua Gentry.
He is survived by his son, Randall (Doris) Brooks; grandchildren, Terri Cook, Ross (Janie) Brooks, Lori Brooks; great-grandchildren Tyler Brooks, Jessie Karup, Katie "Doodle" Brooks and Cody Glasscock; brother, Gene (Dinah) Purkey; several nieces and nephews; special friend Irene Runion. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ridgeview Terrace of Rutledge.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2017 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home prior to the service at 8:00 with Reverends Paul Grisham and Daniel Jarnigan presiding. Graveside services are planned for 10:00 a.m. in Big Hill Cemetery in Bean Station.
