He was born Aug. 28, 1918, in Swaton, Ohio, to Frank and Alice (Brown) Gasaway.
Mr. Gasaway retired in 1980 from NIPSCO after 30 years. He was a member of Moose Lodge 980, an avid sports fan and a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
On Dec. 20, 1941, he married Clara Shelhop, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Sherry Simpson; one son, Jeff; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Damon. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Esther Atwood and Irma Prast; and three brothers, Gordon, Harold and Donald.
The funeral was held at Carlisle Funeral Home, Michigan City, with Rev. David Matevia officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City.
