Francis graduated from Greencastle High School in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army. He married Shirley K. Bratcher and she survives. Other survivors include a son, Loy E. Ash of Rosedale; 2 daughters, Carla Davidson and Marla Marie Thomas of Texas; 4 Grandchildren; 9 Great-grandchildren and a brother, Joseph Ash (Loretta) of Greencastle. He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, John and Eddie Ash and a sister, Edna Cooke.
Francis was a mason for Ash Construction and was a self-employed commercial fisherman.
Private graveside services and burial will be held at the Danville National Cemetery in Danville, Illinois.
