Levi David Saul, Sr., 91, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his family. A native of Alamance County, he was born January 16, 1926 to the late Addison Yarbrough “Ted” and Ruth Pauline Smithey Saul and was the husband of 69 years to Alene Frances Tatum Saul of the home.

Levi served in the US Navy during WWII and worked for the Burlington Industries Williamsburg Plant as an inspector for 30 years before retiring. He was a charter member of Altamahaw Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons for many years. He enjoyed reading the Bible and learning about the Lord. He will be most remembered for his testimony, sense of humor, contagious smile and many friends he made over the course of his life.

Survivors include his wife, Alene, of the home; son, Levi David Saul, Jr.; daughters, Wanda Saul Wheeley (Michael), Carol June Phillips; grandchildren, Sherri Brown (Ted), Margaret Hightower, David Lee Saul (Tammy), Jane Turner Hogsed (Kevin), Michael Wheeley, Jr., Jodie Spencer (Glenn), Rev. John Alexander Coble (Tonya), Rev. Thomas Joel Coble (Beverly), Penny Medley (Sam); great grandchildren, Brandon and Kali Schoolfield, Chad Brown, Sandy and Luke Gerner, Blair, Nolan and Mason Hogsed, Lilliana Spencer, Victoria, Jacob, Elliana and Aaron Coble and Bob and Sydney Medley; brother, Billy Saul; sisters, Mary Beale (Garland), Shirley Ward, Pat Haizlip (Leon) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, A.Y. Saul, Jr. and sisters, Jeanette Apple and Alice Baughn.
