Mary Jeanne Armstrong, 87, of Denver, Colorado, and Ottawa, Illinois died on Friday, August 4, in Denver.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday August 12, 2017 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Rev. John Walker, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral.

Mary was born on May 21, 1930, to John H. and Vera (Morley) Armstrong. She attended MacMurray College where she earned a BA in Education. After moving to Colorado in 1956 and continuing her career as a teacher, she received her Masters from CU. A Physical Education teacher, Mary taught in DPS schools until her retirement.

Mary was raised in Ottawa and kept a home there where she spent summers and holidays with her many friends and beloved family members.

Mary enjoyed a wide variety of interests including skiing, snowshoeing, bowling, golfing and was an avid world traveler, exploring a wide variety of lands and cultures. She maintained a lifelong love for Camp Tuckabatchee and was a longtime member of the Pine Hills Golf Club. She donated generously to a wide variety of causes and was a major supporter of Ottawa Opportunity School.

Mary is survived by many loved nieces and nephews and their children.
