No death records have been located for Stella at this writing but the 1910 & 1920 US Census show he was already widowed at that time and was living in Beaverhead County, Montana. His death certificate also makes it clear his usual residence was Wisdom, Beaverhead, Montana. His son, James, signed as the informant. James M. O'Connell passed from this life May 3, 1920, of valvular heart disease in Butte, Silver Bow, Montana. He was nearly 59.
*Discrepancy: James' wife, Stella, has various records with different surnames for her, among them are McClallan, McClellan, McClollan, McClalan, McLaughlin, etc. She had previously been married to John "Jack" Mallon prior to marrying James.
