Margaret Ann Maguire (Peggy) Porter, age 52, completed her journey on this earth to transition into the loving arms of her Father God and her Savior Jesus Christ on July 28, 2017. She passed in quiet peace at home in West Jordan, Utah, in the loving arms of her husband Don, and surrounded by other loving members of her family.

Peggy was born October 23, 1964, to Mark T. and LaVerna E. Maguire in Omaha, Neb. She attended and graduated in 1983 from the Lewis Central Community Schools, in Council Bluffs. She then attended and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa and later a Master of Arts degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Peggy had an exciting career in marketing and communication, most recently with the Insurance Insight Group for the past 10 years.

On July 25, 1995, Peggy married Don Porter, the love of her life. Together for 22 years, Peggy and Don lived a full and complete life discovering the wonders of God’s marvelous creation in as many ways as possible. She especially loved hiking and playing in the mountains and the beautiful wilderness areas of the Mountain West. She reveled in the wonderful companionship of her family, the many friends of her workplace, her church, and her animal support group, and especially her wonderful yellow lab, Montana.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her sisters, Mary Lee Wahle Yost, and Michelle Ballentine.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Don; her stepdaughters, Wenda (and Tim) Gilman, Stephanie (and Kent) Hansen; four wonderful grandchildren; her brothers, Pat (and Jac) Maguire and Terry Maguire; her sister, Kathy (and Curt) Hayes; and several wonderful nieces and nephews. She counted many of her coworkers and friends as part of her family.

A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at Mountain Vista United Methodist Church, 8931 South 3200 West, West Jordan, Utah on Friday, August 4, 2017, at 2 pm.
