VICTORIA - Amy Elaine Bernhard, 'Pure Love', beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, ended her earthly journey and transitioned to eternal life with our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 5, 2017.

Amy was the eighth child born to Kenneth Francis and Mary Ann Bernhard on December 5, 1970. Amy always said they finally got it right when she was born.

Amy was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth 'Crip' Bernhard; brother, Kenneth 'Kenny' Bernhard; and brother-in-law, Gary McCoig; Maternal grandparents Joseph and Mary Orsak Hrabovsky and Paternal grandparents Max and Rose Ara Bernhard.

Amy is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and her beloved dog, Smiley. In addition to many extended relatives and friends, Amy is also survived by an extraordinary team of caretakers that grew to love our Amy. 'Amy's Angels' provided 24 hour medical, spiritual, and loving care for our Pure Love and our family. The ripple effects will forever continue to touch the lives of many.

Amy graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1989 and from St. Mary's School of Law, San Antonio, in 1998 with a Juris Doctorate. She was employed by Farmers Insurance Group in Mission, Texas.

Amy was most happy while spending time with family and friends in Port O'Connor. She loved the salt water life; she was a truly great fisherwoman who found peace in the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets on the water.

Amy truly lived by the words . . . whatever you do to the least of my brothers. She could not witness a homeless person without providing assistance or a stray dog without making sure it was rescued.

Amy was chosen for her journey. The hearts and souls of the lives she touched over the past fourteen months is a testimony that the light of the Lord still shines bright in the midst of a dark world.

A visitation will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. followed by a rosary.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11:00 A.M.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Grace Funeral Home.
