Edna Fay Judd Ward, an 88-year-old life-long resident of the Mini-Cassia area, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at Diamond Peak of Burley.

Fay was born May 30, 1929, in Declo, Idaho, the daughter of Elmer Charles and Cora Lillian (Kidd) Saxton. She had five brothers, Paul Elmer, Carl Leroy, Mark Duane, Dean Lamar, and Grant M.; along with three sisters, Fern, Rhea K, and Cora Anna.

She received her education in Declo and graduated from Declo High School. She married Marion John Judd on March 24, 1948. Together, they had four children, Fred, Tom, Peggy, and Paul. When her last child started school, Fay continued her lifelong pursuit of education; she first attended Magic Valley Christian College in Albion (the former Albion State Normal School), and then transferred to Idaho State University in Pocatello where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in liberal arts. Her love of children and teaching took her to Heyburn Elementary, where she taught 4th grade, and then on to West Minico Junior High, where she taught English until retirement.

On June 16, 1982, her husband, Marion, passed away. She remained a widow until marrying Gale Ward in March of 2002. They enjoyed this loving relationship for the following 15 years.

Fay was a gifted musician; she played the piano, guitar, banjo and the accordion. She, Gale, and other friends, played in a small ensemble performing throughout the community. They will always be remembered for the time spent in the various care centers in the area playing beautiful music to entertain the residents. One of Fay's highlights was her membership in the Variations - a women's singing group that also performed throughout the Mini-Cassia area. In addition to her musical talent, she was a prolific writer and was a life-long learner.

She is survived by her children, Fred Judd (JoAnn) of Idaho Falls, Tom Judd of Heyburn, Peggy Moore (Kent) of Paul, and Paul Judd (Connie) of Preston; 11 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and her only surviving sibling, Dean Saxton (Betty) of Declo.

In addition to her husband, Marion, and seven siblings, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Fay's life will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, where a visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. She will be laid to rest next to her first husband, Marion, at Riverside Cemetery.

The family expresses there sincere appreciation to Pomerelle Place and Diamond Peak of Burley, for the kindness shown to Fay these past months.
