Margaret was born on March 4, 1934 in Freeport, a daughter of Philip and Catherine (Coady) Walsh. She was a graduate of Champaign Central High School.
Margaret attained her bachelor's degree at St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield and later her master's degree in nursing education from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
She worked as a nurse at Mercy Hospital and later as a nurse educator at Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana; St. Catherine's of St. Paul, Minnesota; Kaskaskia Junior College in Centralia and Parkland College in Champaign.
She was also a member of the American Nurses Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Walsh.
Margaret is survived by her siblings, Phyllis Forrest, Mary (Ed) Cascone, Thomas (Mary) Walsh, John (Vera) Walsh and Catherine Varvel and by many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
