Barbara Ann Rose, 80, of Dalworthington Gardens, Texas, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017, in Arlington.
Barbara was born to J.B. and Mary Ann Phillips on June 30, 1937, in Dallas, Texas, where she was raised.
She graduated from South Oak Cliff High School and continued on to receive her bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas. Barbara's 25-year career was entirely devoted to teaching her beloved first graders in Dallas ISD and Arlington ISD. As a member of the inaugural cohort of teachers to serve under President Lyndon B. Johnson's Head Start Program, Barbara directly helped fight the War on Poverty. She further aided the community as a member of the Arlington Woman's Club, Rolling Hills Country Club, and First Presbyterian Church in Arlington; including volunteer work in New Orleans to rebuild post-Hurricane Katrina.
Barbara was preceded in passing by her husband and the love of her life, Web Rose Jr., and sister, Nancy Teat.
