Richard L. Watson, 76, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at his Fairmount, Indiana residence.

Richard was born in Fairmount, Indiana on March 3, 1941, son of the late Otis Watson and Lerabelle (Moon) Watson-Ruggles. Richard attended Fairmount Schools. He was a jack of all trades at RCA for 39 years, doing everything from being an operator, to an inspector and maintenance, retiring in 2001. When his youngest son was born, he missed his only day of work. Richard had many interest outside of work including, hunting, fishing, photography, antiques, working on old cars, and woodworking. He enjoyed making gun stocks.

Richard is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sylvia K. (Mullen) Watson. They were married in Fairmount on April 28, 1962. Also surviving are daughter, Nancy (Kevin) Kelley, Andrews, IN and sons; Danny Watson, and Tony (Niki) Watson both of Fairmount, IN and David Watson, Jonesboro, IN. 9 grandchildren; Stephanie Brookman, John Watson, Michael Watson, Amber Kelley, Kevin Kelley, Camille Kelley,Ashley Watson, Chelsey Marshall, and T.J. Watson, 9 great-grandchildren; Kaige, Cory, Jacoby, Skyla, Jax, Joseph, December, Leiland, and Leighton. sister, Beverly (Gary) Hipes, Fairmount, IN and brother, Russell Watson, Alabama.

Richard was preceded in death by a brother Jack Watson and a sister Judy Scott.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services Visitation will be on Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 2-6 PM at the funeral home. Funeral Services celebrating Richard's life will be on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 10 AM with Dr. Jerry DeHart officiating. Burial will be at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer services of Grant County in care of the funeral home.
