Mrs. Cordie C. Biddix

Mrs. Cordie Carpenter Biddix of 67 Smyre Station died in a local hospital Wednesday at 12:40 p.m. She was the widow of Jesse E. Biddix. A native of Mitchell county, Mrs. Biddix was born in 1884 and had lived in this community for 25 years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at Carothers Funeral Home on Friday at 4 p.m. with Rev. Floyd Timmerman of the East Gastonia Church of God in charge. Burial will be in Hollywood cemetery. The body will remain at the home of her son John Biddix of 217 North Cherry street until the time of the service.

Surviving are six sons, John Arthur, George Edward, Wylie Baxter, and William Steve Biddix, all of Gastonia, Fred Thomas Biddix of Salisbury, and James Williard Biddix of New York City; one daughter, Mrs. Pearl Hutchinson of Spartanburg, S.C.; one brother, John Carpenter, of Biltmore; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Carpenter Biddix of Gastonia; 28 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
