Mimi graduated in 1952 from Central Catholic High School in Allentown. She was a lifelong seeker of education, earning Bachelor's degrees in anthropology, psychology and geology, as well as a Masters in Journalism, which she applied as the managing editor of the Menninger Perspective. Her life study was nursing, which began at St. Agnes in Philadelphia and continued for years, culminating in service to others in medical and psychological care. She spent many years in Topeka, Kansas and was proud of her work with the Menninger Foundation, Topeka State Hospital and Stormont-Vail Hospital.
Mimi was a prolific writer and widely published. Mimi was an adventurer throughout her life. She held an international scuba diver's license, which was well used, and she was fond of spelunking. She traveled the world through: Mexico, Africa, Europe, China and other parts of the world, including many islands across the seven seas. Mimi was a loving Wife and Mother. A consummate hostess, she was social and outgoing. For 25 years, she hosted a highly anticipated Christmas party that was enjoyed by all. She found a special joy in the company of cats, as well as deer spotting, bird watching and caring for the woodland animals around her home. Her adventures culminated with her return to Allentown and marriage to Tom Hall. They spent 15 years searching for treasure in the richness of the local heritage of the Lehigh Valley. She and Tom attended both St. Paul's RC Church in Allentown and St. Ursula Catholic Church in Fountain Hill. She lived here in love and loving life. She will be remembered and missed equally with tears of joy and sadness.
Survivors: her loving husband, Tom; daughters, Lynda Johnson and her husband Terrance of Canal Fulton, OH and Amy Hensler of Brazil, IN; son, Kyle Ferlemann and his wife Pamela of Topeka, KS; step-daughter, Catherine Keys and her husband Brian of Macungie; step-sons, Mark Hall of Egypt and Bill Hall and his wife Sabina of Allentown; 6 grandchildren, Emily Ferlemann, Nicholas and Josie Hensler and Madison, Parker and Riley Johnson; 2 step-grandchildren, Abby Hall and Olivia Keys. Mimi was preceded in death by her siblings George, who was killed in action in Germany in the service of his country, Joseph, Anna, John, Cecilia, Agnes and Olga.
Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Friday, August 4, 2017 at St. Ursula Catholic Church, 1300 Broadway, Fountain Hill, where a visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of the service. Inurnment will follow in St. Andrew's Cemetery, North Catasauqua. Arrangements are entrusted to the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Inc., Allentown.
