Oakwood – Betty J. Curry, 84, of Oakwood, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2017 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville.

Betty was born on December 14, 1932 in Danville, IL the daughter of Clifford & Loretta (West) Kinney. She married Norman Curry on March 21, 1952. He preceded her in death on July 30 2013.

Survivors include: 4 daughters, Brenda (Robert) Wright, Janet (Robert) Hambright, Julie (Mitchell) Leverenz, and Beth (Glen Peak) Curry, all of Oakwood; 1 brother, Richard (Cheryl) Kinney; 2 sisters, Sue Johnson and Frieda Kinney; Her seven grandchildren: Robert (Keri) Wright, Marci (Gene) Dudley, Shannon (Joseph) Childers, Joshua (Kelsey) Hambright, Dustin (Jessica) Leverenz, Derek Leverenz, & Travis Peak; Her eight great grandchildren, Robby & Rylee Wright, Gina & Cannon Dudley, Trent, Ryan, Nicholas, & Maci Jo Childers; and many nieces and nephews that she loved very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Clifford Kinney, and 3 sisters, Annabelle, Audrey, and Dorothy.

Betty graduated from Oakwood High School. She worked at the Oakwood Unit 76 Schools for over 20 years. She also volunteered in the CARE program at Oakwood Grade School. She enjoyed puzzles and game shows. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church where she volunteered in the nursery. Most of all, she loved her family. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Colonial Manor for their tender loving care.

Funeral service 2pm Friday, August 4, 2017 at Robison Chapel in Catlin with Rev. Patti Wise officiating. Burial in Stearns Cemetery in Fithian. Visitation 12 noon till service time on Friday at Robison Chapel.
