Steel Worker Electrocuted at Damsite
Hungry Horse, July 20--Vernon Drake, 66, structural steel worker, was electrocuted at Hungry Horse damsite today.
Drake, who lived seven miles north of Kalispell, was tending the hook on a crane when the loading line hit a 7,000 volt power line. The crane was removing trees in the area.
Dr. John Mitshke of Columbia Falls pronounced Drake dead after a pulmotor was used in an unsuccessful attempt to revive him.
Survivors include the widow and six children--including two sons, Ernest and Elmer, who were employed at the project.
