Mrs. Pierson Is Called To Reward


Mrs. M. C. Pierson, 74, died Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of a sister, Mrs. W. B. Dye, 1314 Third avenue south.


Mrs. Pierson is survived by one son, John; one daughter, Elizabeth; two sisters, Mrs. Dye and Mrs. J. D. Bradford.


Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning at the residence at 10 o'clock by Rev. R. B. Conner, the cortege moving immediately to Johnson's Chapel, [was buried at Basham Chapel instead] where interment will be made, Drinkard-Howell directing.

Virginia was the daughter of Levi T. Throneberry and Jane Caroline Stokes Throneberry. She is found in her father's household in 1870, age 9, in Coffee County, TN. She first married Joseph M. Dye/Die on Thursday, May 24, 1877 in Coffee County, Tennessee. The surname is spelled Dye on the marriage record.


In 1880, Virginia "Jennie" and Joseph Die were living in Bedford County, Tennessee with their one year old son, William J. Die.


By the 1900 census, Jennie was widowed and living in Marshall County, TN with son John (William J.?) and daughter Elizabeth.


In the 1910 census Virginia was living with her then husband, Mack C. Pierson in Calera, OK. In their household is Willie Mack Pierson, Mack Pierson's son.


In the 1920 and 1930 censuses Mack and Virginia continue to live in Calera, OK. In 1930 she is 68 and he is 81.


In 1936 Virginia died at the home of her sister, Emma Alice Throneberry Die, in Decatur.
