Esther Abigal Matteson who was born at Hartford, New York, July 19, 1849, and departed this life at Florence, Nebraska, February 26, 1926, age 76 years, 6 months, 17 days.
She was twice married. Hre first husband, Alexander White, passed away early thirty years ago. To this union were born fourteen children, eight of whom are still living: Carrie Clark, Panora, Iowa; Homer White, Calkins, Montana; Cora Ford, Irvington, Nebraska; Fred White, Pleasantville, Missouri; Linnie Friddle, Irvington, Nebraska; Maude Maas, Elm Creek, Nebraska; Ethel jacobs, Dannebrogh, Nebraska; Reuben White, Elm Creek, Nebraska. The six children who preceded her in death were Laura, Ella, Eugene, Robert, Charles and an infant son.
She was married in 1898 to J. A. Hassock, who still survives. Besides her immediate family she leaves to mourn her loss, two sisters, Amy Ostrander of Fresno, California, and Ella Marquardt, of Pineville, Missouri, beside several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends, for those who knew her best, loved her most. She was a devoted wife and mother, and no sacrifice was too great for her to make for those she loved.
The funeral was held at Calhoun, Nebraska, on February 8th, and
interment was made at the Calhoun cemetery.
