Memorial graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Marrowbone Township Cemetery, with Military Rites by the Bethany American Legion Post #507. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Bethany, is in care of the arrangements.
Lee was born March 6, 1927, in Dalton City, the son of Irving J. and Milbra Rebecca (Rhodes) Freeland. He married Eleanor Joan Younger on November 12, 1948 in Bethany; she preceded him in death on August 4, 2009. Lee served in the United States Army Band.
He was a member of the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church and was a life time member of the American Federation of Musicians. Lee also played the trumpet for over seventy-two years in the Decatur Municipal Band. He served on the Macon County Farm Bureau Board and the Bethany School Board. Lee loved his family, farming and music.
He is survived by his son, Zane (Emily) Freeland of Bethany; daughters, Renee (Terry) Greene of Indianapolis, IN, and Leesa (Bob) Smith of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Isabelle Tipsword of Bethany. Lee is also survived by eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and his brother Jimmy.
