The Waterloo Region Record, 5 July 2017:
MARTIN, Gordon passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 3, 2017 at the age of 82. His warm, compassionate and fun loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Florence of 59 years, and his children, Pauline and Calvin Martin, Murray and Cheryl Martin, Marie Martin and John Strauss, Ken and Mirela Martin and Cheryl Martin and Greg Tavitian; his 9 grandchildren, Shelly (Jonathan), Devin (Megan), Christopher (Krystal), Alisha (Craig), Steven, Corey (Melissa) and Sarah, Brian (Melinda) and Denise; and his 8 great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters. Harvey and Lovina Martin, John and Minerva (Martin) Horst, Salema Martin, Aden and Alice (Martin) Horst, Amsey and Annie Martin, Amsey and Elsie (Martin) Weber. Predeceased by his precious daughter Erma, his father, Ibra Martin, his mother Melinda Martin, father-in-law Melvin Martin and mother-in-law Lydiann (Snider) Martin. His sister Viola (Martin) Gingrich, brother-in-law Ian Gingrich, and brother-in-law Mahlon Martin (Salema Martin). The family will receive family and friends at Waterloo Funeral Home, 617 King St. North, Waterloo on Thursday, July 6 from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral will take place at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church 1310 King Street St. Jacobs on Friday, July 7 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a family committal service at St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at St. Jacobs Place, and the CCAC palliative team of nurses for their exceptional care and attentiveness. Expressions of sympathy can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).
