* Daniel's birth year is an average of his age on censuses (ca 1808-1810) and not proved.

* Note it is not known where Daniel and his wife Nancy are buried. A claim on a message board many years ago said they were buried in unmarked graves in "Friends Church" cemetery in Farmersburg. The closest to that is Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Farmersburg, so that is a possibility but not proved to my knowledge this date. I placed Nancy and Daniel at Little Flock Cemetery for safekeeping because Nancy's father is interred here, until proof of their burial location is found.

* On a list of letters remaining in the Post Office at Terre Haute, IN, on 1 Jan 1838, was one addressed to Samuel Oakes or Danl Featherskill. Something must have occurred at that time when someone was trying to contact the family.

FARMERSBURG

Mr. Daniel Featherkile an old and respected farmer living one mile north of town died suddenly, Wednesday the 3d inst. while husking corn in a field. On Tuesday he walked to Pimento, a distance of three miles, and voted. He ate a hearty dinner, Wednesday, and returned to work in the field but complained of his side hurting him. His son-in-law, Mr. Mark Wilson, who was working with him told him to sit down and wait till he had finished loading his wagon with corn and then they would go home, but upon Mr. Wilson's return he found him dead. /S/ Gladice.

* In the Diary of John Allen Moore, grandson of Samuel Oaks (as told to him by his grandmother Rachel Oaks and his mother Mary Ann Oaks Moore) he wrote, "Nancy Oaks married Daniel Featherkile they lived on a small farm near Farmersburg Indiana he Died very sudently while working in a cornfield."
