AGE: 79 • New Castle

Agnes May Barkus, age 79, of New Castle, DE, passed away after a year of fighting a valiant battle with cancer. Agnes cherished her family and loved all the memories they made at the beach home on Rehoboth Bay. She looked forward to dinners out with her beloved husband. Agnes was a longtime member of the Townsend Women's Club. She enjoyed watching mystery shows (especially Masterpiece Theatre) and her favorite soap opera - The Young and Restless. Agnes had a special love for her sisters, Florence and Thelma, as well as her foster siblings.

Agnes is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Raymond D. Barkus; children, Curt Barkus and Tracey Barkus (Scott); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Baynard and Edna Marvel; brothers, Earl and Robert Brown; and sisters: Anita Hutchison, Florence Greene, and Thelma Vinson.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 10-11 AM in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Agnes's life at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Faithful Friends, 12 Germay Dr., Wilmington, DE 19702.
