Ed was born on March 2, 1930 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Henry and Bessie (Stagner) Wilking. He married Esther Choate on October 8, 1950. She preceded him in death on September 30, 2015.
He served in the US Army and was a Korean War veteran. Ed began his work career for Borg Warner and went on to work for General Electric Company. He later retired as a Carpenter from Local #742. He was a member of the Elwin United Methodist Church and a fifty-year member of the Mt. Zion Odd Fellows Lodge #300 having served as a Past Grand of the lodge. Ed enjoyed fishing, woodworking and playing softball and sports in his younger years. He was an active fan of Mt. Zion sports teams and enjoyed being a St. Louis Cardinal fan.
Surviving are his daughter, Susan Wilking Deemer; sister, Betty Ann Davidson; grandchildren, Ashley Bridget (Joe) Yokley, Ryan Edward Deemer and his fiancé Megan O'Brien and Michael Jeffrey Deemer; two great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces whom cherished Ed as their favorite Uncle.
Ed was also preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Bill, Tom, Bob and Ben.
