Along with his wife, they owned and operated ART Acres Dairy Farm since 1968. He was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, where he served as Board Chairperson, and as a Deacon. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Maryland-West Virginia Breeding Co-Op; Sire Power Sire Committee; Vice President of Sire Power Board of Directors; President of Sire Power Southern Division; President of Select Sire Power; President of Washington County Dairy Herdsman Improvement Assn.; Farmers Home Administration Board; Maryland Farm Bureau; President of Washington County Holstein Assn.; President of Maryland Holstein Board; Chairman of Membership Assn. of Maryland Holstein Board; 4 time Delegate to the National Holstein Assn.; 2007 inductee to Maryland Dairy Shrine; 1986 Maryland Senior Breeder Award; 1993 Outstanding Conservation Co-Operator; Lifetime Member to the National Holstein Assn.; Maryland Virginia Milk Producers; 2008 Recipient of Maryland Holstein Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contributions to the Maryland dairy industry; October 2000, cover of Holstein World; Breeder of Art Acres Oscar (Sire of the World Record Cow); Breeder and owner of Art Acres Kay (first Holstein cow to have 50 registered offspring); Owner of Beauty (first cow in Frederick County to produce 30,000 pounds of milk).
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Lee Rhoderick; three daughters, Robin Sue Davies, Teri Kay Matters and Tracie Ann Poteet; two sons, Dale Vincent Rhoderick and Paul Grayson Rhoderick ; two sisters, Dorothy Harbaugh of Woodsboro, MD and Ruth Kuhnof Middletown, MD; brother, Paul Rhoderick of Middletown, MD; 17 Grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Frey, Betty Putman and Lucille Murphy, brothers, Charles Rhoderick, Jr. and Harry Rhoderick.
Services will be held at the Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, Hagerstown, MD. Arrangements by the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Private interment will be at the Beaver Creek Cemetery, Beaver Creek, MD.
