Pine Mountain, GA- David William Cristy (Dave) passed away at 79 on July 17, 2017.
Military Honors will be held at the Main Post Cemetery, on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 1pm.
Dave was born on Nov 2,1937 in Chicago, IL and grew up in Chicago and the NW Indiana area. In 1961, Dave was drafted into the Army and joined the Military Police. In 1962, he transferred to Bremerhaven, Germany where he became a proud member of the 59th MP Company. While there, Dave met and fell in love with Ingrid, his best friend and beloved soulmate. They married on Sept 4, 1965 in Bremerhaven. His daughter, Barbara, was born the following year. Dave was a Vietnam veteran, serving one tour in Vietnam (1968-1969). He retired in Ft Benning, GA as a Master Sergeant after 23 years of service. He later worked as a special deputy for the US Marshall's Service in Columbus. Dave loved roadsters, and enjoyed driving his old Miata while wearing a silk "Snoopy Scarf" and a British driving cap (just one example of his quirky sense of humor). He also enjoyed gardening, photography, and arts and crafts of all types. We loved him very much and will be deeply missed. He is survived by Ingrid Cristy of Pine Mountain, GA (wife), Barbara (Roger) Williams of Roswell, GA (daughter), Sharon (David) Jacobs of Hebron, IN (sister), Bradley (Kathy) Cristy of Hooperston, IL (brother) in addition to his cousins, nieces, nephew, in-laws, and friends near and far.
