AWARDED PURPLE HEART IN WW II

George N. Sexton, 78, of Elyria died Wednesday at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Vermilion after a long illness.

Born in Queens, KY, he lived in Wellington and Lorain before moving to Elyria.

A machine shop foreman, he worked at the former Fruehauf Trailer Co. in Avon Lake. After that, he was self-employed, retiring in 1974.

Mr. Sexton was a World War II Army Veteran and received a Purple Heart.

He enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Gladys J (Comer) Sexton, 4 sons; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, James F. in 1991.

Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 12:30 until time of service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 W. Erie Ave. Lorain.


The Rev. Charles V. Hurst, of the First Presbyterian Church in Lorain will officiate.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Garden in Avon.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
