Dr. Henry Plowden "Mutt" Bozard, 74, husband of Lynne Hudson Bozard, died Monday, July 17, 2017, at McLeod Health Clarendon.

Born July 29, 1942, in Kingstree, he was a son of the late Dr. Asbury Cecil Bozard and the late Ashton Plowden Bozard. He was an Eagle Scout, a graduate of Wofford College and the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He served as a Captain in the US Army and was a retired dentist with 42 years of practice. He was a Battalion Chief and former Chairman of the Fire Board of the Clarendon County Fire Department, a member of the Manning Fire Department, the SC State Firefighters’ Association, the Pee Dee Firefighters’ Association, and was a state director of the National Volunteer Fire Council. He was inducted into the SC State Firefighters’ Hall of Fame. He was on the Board of Directors at The Bank of Clarendon, a member of the Mullet Club, a Rotarian where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, a member of the Eastern South Carolina Mustang Club and Manning United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years of Manning; a son, Henry Plowden “Bo” Bozard, Jr. (Amy) of Manning; a daughter, Ashton Ellis Bozard of Columbia; and two grandsons, Robert Hugh Bozard and James Hudson Bozard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Asbury Cecil Bozard, Jr.
